Rimmel | A Lip Velvet Review

I LOVED LOVED LOVED the Rimmel Show Off Glosses SO much.
I have a few and all of them beautiful. Amazing color pay off and so creamy and a beautiful selection of colors! So naturally When I heard Rimmel came out with some Matte Lip Velvets I was all over it. Scouring Walgreens for these mythical Lippies. SO excited to try them. I finally found them at a walgreens close to my apartment and quickly nabbed the last two they had, honestly didnt even care what color they were i had to try them!

“MATTE TO THE FUTURE! SHOW OFF LIP COLOUR NOW WITH NEW VELVETY MATTE FINISH. (Mmm…Velvety Matte Finish, huh… I wish.)

• “Weightless liquid color with a velvety smooth finish”
The product IS very light weight. Thats nice, Its noe heavy and it dosnt drag on the lips when applied…

• “Earth-shattering intense color stays true for up to 8 hours”
No. Just no. The color is not but its by no means EARTHSHATTERING. Normally I would be very excited about the Orange color but I simply cant get behind this one. SO streaky. It looks like old finger paint. Meteoric Matte , although BEAUTIFUL in color. Not Matte. (Inmyopinioninmyopinioninmyopinion) There is SHINE to this “Lip Velvet”…
And, who are we kidding. 8 hours? By the time 8 hours has gone by if you have any on at all it looks like lip liner. #aintnobodygottimeforthat

• “Moisturizing formula instantly increases lip moisture by 31%”
The longer you wait the more MATTE the product becomes but also the more dying it got. My lips were SO chapped 3 hours in, you are forced to reapply. Which in reality isnt a huge deal but dont advertise  moisturizing staying power if that just isn’t so.

Not the biggest fan, but not a TOTAL womp either. Meh. I could take it or leave it.

The glosses were better.

IMO.

Major Bummer. Sounds like a major miss. Thanks for the heads up. Won’t even bother with it.
